Thank you Ben and Sarah for creating such an idyllic and beautiful holiday cottage. We all had a wonderful time exploring North Devon and a really comfortable stay at the Lambshed. The beaches were by far the highlight of our stay; Woolacombe, Barricane and Saunton Sands. The children enjoyed collecting shells. Arlington Court was another delight as well as the big sheep … a great day out. It was always lovely to come back to the cottage for a slice pf lemon cake and cup of tea! Thank you, Sarah! What a wonderful October half term we have had in the calfshed. The perfect setting for a fun packed exploration of everything Devon has to offer.
The Turners have managed to squeeze in:
- 80 miles on our bikes covering local lanes to Croyde, Baggy Point, the Tarka Trail to Bideford & beyond – perfect family cycling.
- Sand castles at Putsborough, Woolacombe & Instow.
- A wonderful walk to the Rock Inn for a drink in Georgeham.
- A couple of scrummy visits to John’s at Instow … definitely worth a visit or two!
- Cream teas at Fremlington!

We had a wonderful time staying here for 5 days (wish it could have been longer!). Our 3-year-old is very upset we are leaving our ‘holiday home’. We loved the tranquil environment and peaceful & relaxing Calfshed. The grey look was great. Our favourite things to do are:
1) Croyde Beach! We love it here. Also great if you are National Trust members like us, as you get free parking.
2) Curry on Barricane Beach – such a great experience.
3) Coffee (and lunch) at The Stores in Croyde – I wish I could pick this place up and bring it home with us!
4) Dinner at the Quay in Ilfracombe – we had an amazing dinner here.
5) Cream Tea at Sandleigh Gardens (the place with the free parking at Croyde Beach)

What a beautiful place you have created, warm & cosy, yet spacious, airy and light. I love the view of the courtyard, a perfectly designed small area – a garden design I would love to copy. I enjoyed all the extra touches – the vase of pink & purple stocks, the candles in large sweet jars, the eco cleaning products, the Bramley hand-wash. The paintings of boats and beaches on the walls, the full bottle of olive oil, the chocolate cake. The interior design is perfect, a mix of modern comfortable sofas, chapel dining chairs, vintage benches, a palette of charcoal, pebble, sand and white; linen covered cushions, sisal matting, concrete floors. It was a pleasure to cook in the kitchen where everything is new and matching. The large selection of cookery books were fun to flick through in the evenings. We enjoyed the area, visiting: Saunton Sands, Putsborough, and Croyde for long beaches & shell collecting. Arlington House for the National Trust and Carriage Museum. Porlock Weir for a pub lunch and a wander around the boats, cottages and along the pebbly beach. Braunton looks unpromising but proved to be an excellent shopping place if you like second-hand books, nearly new clothes, vintage Christmas decorations and smart gift shops. We have had a wonderful week here and would love to come again, thank you Sarah & Ben for all the time and effort you have put into making this haven.

We visited Broomhill Sculpture Park, had a Sri Lankan curry from the little hut at Barricane Beach, and visited some stunning local beaches, Saunton Sands and dunes, Baggy Point. We had a wonderful few days despite the wet weather! Having such a bright airy and comfortable refuge from the rain really made all the difference. And the sun came out on our final day so Charlie got his first taste of paddling in the sea and was most annoyed to be taken away! A wonderful haven of peace and light, perfect to recharge the batteries. The Lambshed is beautifully done and superbly equipped. It was our first time in North Devon – we’ll definitely be back – we enjoyed the rock pools at Croyde and Saunton, walks around Morte Point, cycling along the Tarka Trail, fish and chips from Squires, the Kings Arms in Georgeham, but probably best of all, just staying in and cooking a nice meal and enjoying a late breakfast on the sunny terrace.

We have never visited Devon before, so it was an extra special trip for us.
We spent a wonderful week here with friends in the Calfshed and it has been amazing. The Lambshed is without doubt the most stylish and comfortable holiday home we have ever stayed in. It is beautiful and very well equipped as well, nothing has been left out or not thought of. The children loved spending a fantastic morning with Matt and Lou doing forest craft and learning all about the wildlife and survival techniques at Chapelwood.
We loved all the beaches we visited but the best for surfing with the children (7 of them) was Saunton Sands as it was very safe. We had some lovely walks on Putsborough and Croyde as well with a visit to the café at the end.
The King’s arms in Georgeham was our favourite for dinner and the kids loved pizza from the mobile oven ‘Stoned’ in Croyde.
It has been the most amazing week, great weather and great fun, and we very much hope to return to this little corner of paradise.

Had a wonderful week in the Calfshed. Weather been lovely and had some wonderful days down on Saunton Beach. Walked for miles throwing the ball for Molly, collecting shells and watching the amazing tide disappear far out!
Would recommend the walk along the beautiful river and waterfalls from Watersmeet to Rockford. Had a gorgeous sunny walk and scenery spectacular. Good cream tea in the idyllic National Trust Tea Rooms.

We’ve had a lovely stay here in the Lambshed, not only is it stunning in appearance but one of the most practical and well equipped self-catering properties we’ve stayed in. I like to cook while away and the kitchen had everything you need.
The herb planters in the courtyard are a great idea – able to have fresh mint tea everyday.
We’ve also been lucky enough with the weather to enjoy dining outside in the evening – it’s a lovely space!
A few of the things we’ve done and enjoyed:
· Take a drive to Lynmouth, a pretty coastal town.
· Evening stroll around Ilfracombe to see the Verity Statue and enjoy a meal at ‘The Quay’ – Lucky to sea a great sunset.
· Castle Hill Gardens have a wonderful formal garden and beautiful country walks around the magnificent house. Stop on the way out for tea and homemade cake at the ticket office.
· Arlington Court – Another great place to walk or simply sit and contemplate in the sunshine and take in the view.
· Fremington Quay Café – Great fresh fish dishes and I can recommend a toasted cheese scone with cream cheese and chutney. Then walk or cycle it off along the Tarka Trail (Bike hire next to the café)

Brilliant holiday!!! The Calfshed was a wonderful place to stay in. We had the best walk ever along Mortehoe….even the sun shined! Another walk to Baggy Point, National Trust tea shop was scrum my. We have had a totally restful Easter weekend in this idyllic place. The decor and beautiful surroundings are totally conducive to relaxation. Ben and Sarah and Milly and Daisy have been wonderful hosts and have thought of everything to keep us content. We can’t wait to come back! From a style point of view both the barns are exquisite. The landscaping between them is beautiful also. The underfloor heating is magnificent. We will remember the cosiness as we head back to our draughty farmhouse in Bath!

We’ve had such a lovely stay in the Calfshed – we’ll definitely be back. We’ve had beautiful weather – the local beaches are fab – Saunton Sands is our favourite. Jack loved chasing the chickens and running around the garden. We have had a great week in the Lambshed, it has been a great family space for a week of mixed weather, but we have still managed some excellent beach days and go-kart racing in Barnstable. The accommodation is so comfortable we have all slept well and relaxed. I feel I have been away for ages!. It has also been so lovely for the children to have so much space and extra friends to spend time with. Thank you for looking after us so well. Your project has certainly been a success!

Had a wonderful stay! Weather was very kind to us, despite a shaky start! Would recommend the walk from Morthoe to Bull Point & Morte Point & onto Barricane Beach. Amazing views too from Baggy Point. Cycling the Tarka Trail& up to Ilfracombe was lovely (if a little Hilly in places!) Would recommend the Stoves @ Croyde, John’s @ Instow & a ferry crossing to Appledore. Thank you for another wonderful holiday – this is the most relaxing place to stay. It’s our third visit, and we will come again! We took many recommendations from the visitor’s book, and now are adding one – ‘Espresso Seafood Restaurant & Grill’, on the waterfront in Ilfracombe – the most delicious & fresh seafood. We tucked into a seafood platter – lobster, crab, prawns, clams, mussels; all cooked with garlic butter – we got very sticky! It has been our best meal by a long margin.

Homemade Bolognese spaghetti “at home” in the Lambshed with fresh salads and herbs from the Upcott gardens (Thank you!) and courgette carpaccio (some olive oil, salt, balsamic).
We loved being here and will be back. Thanks so much for everything, last but not least the delicious lemon cake as a welcome treat.

We have enjoyed the most incredible week at the beautiful Lambshed! Great fun surfing in Saunton Sands every day in THE BEST weather ever!! We highly recommend the Sri Lankan curry on Barricane Beach (near Woolacombe), so good we went twice. Croyde general stores was our regular morning coffee stop, which is fantastic. Hoping to be back for a third trip to Upcott, we love it here.

We have loved our visit to Upcott Farm. The weather has been kind, the beaches beautiful and the walks bracing! The Calfshed is a real gem and has allowed us to fully relax and enjoy our stay. We had great visits to Arlington Court, Broomhill Sculpture and Marwood Hill Gardens. The Quay at Ilfracombe was our favourite for dinner, but the curry on Barricane Beach is also not to be missed. Another fantastic week in the Calfshed. The weather was kinder and having learnt from last time we came armed with wetsuits so we could enjoy the surf. Putsborough beach has been a big hit for the waves and castle building opportunities! The ‘pop-up’ Stoned pizza restaurant at the Stores, Croyde was fantastic and pizza at the beach in the evening was a big hit. RHS Rosemoor provided a perfect change to the beach and even the bowling in Barnstaple, on the one wet day, was great fun. Thanks for another great week. We have had such a happy time at Upcott Farm. Thank you Sarah and Ben for being so welcoming and kind. This is our second time here and we continue to love Upcott’s exquisite taste and design. The trips we have loved include:
· Appledore – great for crabbing on a grey day. The Seagate pub does a good crab sandwich (35 mins drive)
· Dinosaur and Wildlife Park nr Combe Martin (25 mins drive).
· Ilfracombe Golf Club – a nice informal seaside course, every hole has a seaside view!
· Croyde beach – turn left, heading out of Croyde and park on the hill to access the quiet side of the beach.
· Damien Hirst’s restaurant ‘The Quay’ in Ilfracombe – lovely sea views.
· Squire’s Fish and Chip Shop in Braunton – very tasty but make sure you get in the correct queue!

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed a most idyllic week here at Upcott; not only is the settling absolutely gorgeous and the Calfshed completely beautiful – the sun has shone too! Thanks for the warm welcome and smashing lemon cake – an excellent start to the week of cream teas, ice-creams, pub lunches, and fish and chips – Squires in Braunton was very good for the latter. The Rock and Kings Arms in Georgeham proved delightful and the beach at Putsborough was perfect for our 18month old daughter. We had some fantastic BBQs out in the courtyard (Thanks for providing the kit). We’d very much like to return to Upcott – we still can’t believe our luck at finding such a gem.

We have had a wonderful few days in the Calfshed – the accomadation is perfect and had everything we needed. Our son and daughter-in-law and 4 grandchildren were in the Lambshed and it worked perfectly – all together for most things – then we could escape when necessary! We went out to lovely pubs had barbecues and had a super time. The weather was very good and yesterday at Saunton Sands it was perfect – blue sky and sunshine all day. What more could you ask for. We’ve had a wonderful few days and love the Lambshed! The girls would like to take it back to Bath to live in….and so would we! We didn’t expect snow so close to Easter, but we’ve had plenty of sun too. Suzie, Millie and Lola have had 2 rides from Woolacombe with the beach ride a great highlight. We love the concrete floors and hope to use them at home. Thank you, we hope to return very soon!

Wow, what an amazing place, what a stunning conversion. The two converted farm sheds have been transformed into a far more luxurious experience than their previous occupants would have had – Cows, Lambs, Pigs! Ben, Sarah…It’s the attention to detail and the personal touches that make this a great ‘experience’. We will be back with the rest of the tribe.

Thank you for a relaxing and wonderful time! You have created such an amazing place and should be very proud! Detail has been put into everything from the high quality fixtures and fittings to the extra special touches! We really appreciated the lovely lemon drizzle cake on arrival and my husband said it was one of the best he had ever tasted! And he had had a lot!! Places we visited also added to our fantastic stay! My favourite has to be seeing ‘Verity’ Damien Hirst’s sculpture! This experience is a memory I will hold forever, as I was fortunate enough to see the man in person too! I am a big fan of him and could not believe my eyes!! Putsborough beach is gorgeous! Ray loved running around on this clean and beautiful beach! The walk to Morte Point, the Lynton and Lynmouth cliff train and the afternoon tea at Baggy Point all contributed to our lovely experience! We’ve had a wonderful Christmas here at the Lambshed. The moment we arrived – beautiful wreath of the front door, lights welcoming us, Christmas tree, garlands, mince pies waiting we knew this was the perfect place. Sarah and Ben thank you! Loved the ‘secret valley’, the Rock in Georgeham, sunny Christmas day walk on Croyde Beach , St Petrock’s in Parracombe, drive to Porlock Weir and so much more. Happy New Year!

We had a really amazing stay! Thank you Ben, Sarah, Daisy, Milly and Pip, for making this house a wonderful home for a week. My mum fell in love with all the lovely interiors. We had a really busy week, and these are some of the recommendations. - The stores for coffee and breakfast - The Blue Groove for dinner - The stoned pizza van for takeaway on the beach - Cream tea at Appledore - Croyde’s ice cream shop for ice cream on the beach Activities - Active escape at Watermouth. Adventure task - Seal spotting at Morthoe - Surfing at Putsborough and Woolacombe Beach - Fish and chips in Ilfracombe and the verity statue Me and my sister loved bouncing on the trampoline, and I’ve hid a stone near the trampoline and if you spot it hide it again and other people can spot it. Thank you for such a lovely stay. What an inspiring, beautiful space you have created at the Lambshed. With three small children (5, 3 and 19 months) we have long been searching for a family holiday that … for everyone – fun for the kids, quality family time together and a bit of calm, luxury and downtime for mummy and daddy – and our stay at the Lambshed has offered us all of that in abundance – so Thank you! The Lambshed is one of those spaces that somehow just looks amazing whatever the light, weather or time of the day – even with lots of toys around and activity going on the cottage just seemed to work and function so practically for a family, whilst still being a beautiful space. I feel inspired to go back home and finish off some of those loose ends in our own home! Highlights for us included the circular clifftop walk from Mortehoe, coffee and brunch at Croyde Stores and walks along Saunton Sands and Croyde beach.

Another wonderful week at Upcott. Each year we enjoy it more and discover new things to do and places to go. Putsborough is still our favourite beach and a place we love. The waves at Croyde this year were excellent as were the Surf South West surf lessons. The Wild Thyme café in Braunton for brunch is fab and the cycling of the Tarka trail fun as always. Upcott Farm is the best thing about Devon though and we look forward to next year and creating more memories. Thank you for creating this little corner of paradise, it really is a hidden gem.

P.S. The Quay at Ilfracombe is a stunning restaurant. We went on Sunday and had one of the best meals we have had in a long time.
What a lovely spot to enjoy all that Devon has to offer! We had spectacular weather & a perfect visit! We walked Putsborough Beach, biked on the Tarka Trail, hiked Trails in Exmoor & strolled through Lynton & Lynmouth. We even enjoyed some morning Yoga under the apple trees! We used the grille to cook delicious chicken & fish & enjoyed fresh herbs & vegetables at the kitchen table. The sunshine & fresh breezes were spectacular! On our last day, we took a walk to Georgeham where we enjoyed an afternoon pint. Thanks for a lovely holiday that we will never forget.

We have also visited the Broomhill Sculpture Park which was lovely, and our newly 3 year old loved looking at the artwork: Baggy Point (in the rain), Woolacombe and Croyde beaches. We had an amazing stay over half-term. The Lambshed is a beautiful home from home, and Ben & Sarah made us feel very welcome. We did lots of exploring of the local areas even venturing as far a Salcombe! We would recommend ‘Stoned’ in Braunton for pizza, and ‘The Stores’ in Croyde coffee & cake or lunch. Our 9-year-old twins enjoyed playing with the ducks in the garden and hopping the stream – not always with success! Thank you, and we hope to see you again!

Iris and Dylan (4 and 1) loved Putsborough, Croyde and Woolacombe beaches with the rock pools at Barricane a real favourite. Squires and Stoned in Braunton provided some great food to enjoy in the Calfshed, and the Rock Inn at Georgeham was just as brilliant (and filling) as we remembered. We had charming afternoon at NT Arlington Court and thought Sandleigh tea rooms delightlful. We’d love to return again – we love it here!

We have felt so at home, and appreciated every detail in the amazing renovated old buildings and garden orchard. Such a special place which we will recommend to our friends and family.
Thank you Sarah for a delish-lemon cake, and thank you Ben for dealing with the organic food waste – it’s so good that you encourage recycling as part of your ethos.
The kids have had a great time surfing and body boarding at Putsborough beach and Croyde beach. We were lucky to hit the last 3 days full of sun during our stay (I did ask you to order good weather, Ben, so thank you).
We really love this area, it’s a real gem, and we hope we will be visiting again soon (to perfect the surf skills).
Good luck with the ‘Apple-festival’. The world never has enough of good, organic apple juice, so I’m looking forward to ‘Upcott Farm’ apple juice on the shelves soon! If you need graphic designers, just let us know!

Despite some less than sunny weather, we have all enjoyed this beautiful part of Devon. All the beaches locally have been fantastic, Putsborough on a sunny day was particularly good! Cycling along the Tarka Trail from Bideford to Yerde Orchard was an uphill slog, rewarded with a fab lunch and the long downhill back! Would recommend Arlington Court NT house. The Rock Inn @ Georgeham and the walk around Baggy Point.

Great first time at Upcott Farm. We travelled quite far to get here and were not disappointed. The place is the kind of house I’d like to live in – all attention has been lovingly given to the ‘Sheds’ – our 2 year old loved the toys box and bouncing on the trampoline with the chickens. We had some great days on the beaches, walked Baggy Point and had a day trip to the ‘Big Sheep’.
We’d definitely love to come back perhaps with Grandparents next time.

We’ve enjoyed Saunton, Putsborough and Woolacombe beaches but unfortunately none of the pubs!! We’ll come back to do that tho.

It’s been lovely. We have just loved Upcott Farm. Beautifully designed. All the details just in their places. Girls loved the chickens and Pubbles and Pebbles. We loved to gather around the fireplace and play cards. We got the St Jude’s storm but I think I was the only one to wake up to the sound of wind. Upcott held us safe. What a lovely place this is! We have had a very comfortable and relaxed weekend in a very beautiful ‘shed’! Surf wasn’t great and neither was the weather but the beaches nearby are very scenic and we made the best of the great british weather playing in the sand and flying kites. Fantastic! – We love it here and already planning for a return visit. So much provided to make a perfect stay. Our hosts made us feel at home – so friendly and helpful with sorting any problems. The BBQ was used again, as was the outdoor eating area – we could have done with just a bit more sunshine, but can’t complain we had nearly every meal outside – even if we had to use the brolly! We really enjoyed our beachhut at Saunton Sands and the Kings Arms pub. Thanks for a lovely stay.

What a fabulous few days in the most wonderful place. You’ve done everything so beautifully. We’d recommend Kings Arms and Rock Inn (Georgeham) for anyone wanting a good meal locally – The Quay at Ilfracombe was also fabulous. Baggy Point, Putsborough Beach and Woolacombe all lovely spots. Thank you for a great week! I suspected we were in for a treat and was not disappointed! This is a stunning location and the barns are amazing as well as all the little details that make it extra special. We loved looking after the chickens and found them very entertaining – and useful when we discovered 3 eggs one morning! Jake loved the lego and the books and the fire was lovely on windy hail stone evenings. On our days out we saw stags, hawks and we rescued caterpillars down at Baggy Point! It’s been very relaxing and we haven’t even minded all the rain. Thanks again guys

We have had the most loveliest week in the Calfshed. We are really quite sad to be going home. Olly and Ruby have loved having two fabulous new friends to play with, so thank you Daisy and Milly for being so fabulous. The décor of the Calfshed is lovely, and made us feel so relaxed, and you have thought of everything. Despite slightly rubbish weather, the week has been really what we all needed and you sowed a seed of country life in a true city-girl’s heart! We really hope we can come back next year, although by the sounds of it we will need to be super organized and book once we get back, which we will be sure to do. P.S. Wonderful properties so luxurious and working so well for all our families, old and young. Beautiful baked cake on arrival and fantastic recommendations and help when we needed it. Surrounding area had so much to offer, we only got to see a little and will most definitely be back. The boys have begged not to go and the adults agree. We shall be telling everyone about a piece of luxury in North Devon!
